Sunoco National Tour leading rookie looking forward to Michigan short track
Nashville, TN (September 2, 2010) … Bryan Ortiz and the BD Racing with Sterling Marlin race team are looking forward to the Michigan 200 this weekend at the Springport Motor Speedway. The Sunoco National Tour returns to the high-banked 3/8-mile track for the rescheduled Michigan 200 that was postponed by rain on June 5th. For Ortiz, the return visit to Springport is a welcome sight.
“Springport is a fun little track that I’m looking forward to,” Ortiz stated. “I love short track racing and I know my team will have my #40 Camaro ready to race.”
Ortiz enters the Michigan 200 second in the overall Sunoco National Tour point standings and leading the Rookie-of-the-Year points. And, with three races in three weeks, Ortiz knows that anything can happen during this three-race stretch. The Sunoco National Tour raced at the 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway last week, tackles the 3/8-mile short track at Springport this week, and returns to the flat Milwaukee Mile next weekend.
“Bryan (Ortiz) has been doing an outstanding job this season,” Sterling Marlin commented. “It’s really amazing how fast he has adapted to different types of tracks in this series. When I first saw this young man in a race car, I knew that he has what it takes to be successful. Bryan has the ability to communicate with his crew about how the car is performing and what changes are needed. He’s got the talent to go a long way in this sport.”
