Sunoco National Tour looking forward to return visit to historic track
Nashville, TN (September 8, 2010) … Until July 17, 2010, Bryan Ortiz had never seen The Milwaukee Mile in West Allis, Wisconsin. Now, the Puerto Rico rookie in the Sunoco National Tour can’t wait to return to the historic track for the Wisconsin 150. And, with good reason.
From his first practice lap on the flat, one-mile track, Bryan Ortiz and the BD Racing Team with Sterling Marlin knew that their Camaro was fast and going to be a contender in the Badgerland 100.
“Everything was just perfect,” Ortiz told his crew. “We’ve got a very strong car today. Your setup for this track was great.”
In qualifying for the Badgerland 100, Ortiz toured the one-mile track in 29.973 seconds to earn his first career AR Bodies Fast Time Award. However, the excitement was short-lived as throttle issues forced an early exit and resulted in a 9th-place finish.
This weekend, the 21-year old rookie returns to The Milwaukee Mile for the Wisconsin 150 with confidence that he and the BD Racing with Sterling Marlin team can finish the business they started in July.
“I’m really looking forward to The Milwaukee Mile this weekend,” Ortiz stated. “I really like the track and I know that my team has prepared a car capable of winning the race. It’s exciting to know that every time you go to a track, you have a car and team behind you that are going to be contenders.”
